Samantha Hawke, MEd, RP

Samantha Hawke (Sammy) is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and graduate of the University of Toronto Master of Education in the Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy program. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto where she double majored in Gender and Sexual Diversity Studies. Sammy has special interest in exploring how gender and sexuality identities are informed by political, social and cultural discourses and how we come to understand ourselves through these discourses. Sammy has also completed a Certificate in Sex Therapy from the University of Guelph in 2023 and a Training Certificate in Narrative Therapy from the Dulwich Center in 2022.

Sammy works with individuals and relationships of all genders and sexualities to help deepen a sense of connection with self and others while creating an environment that feels warm and safe for exploration. At the core, Sammy’s therapeutic approach offers a space that fosters collaboration and encourages free and open communication. Sammy’s foundational clinical orientation is Narrative Therapy for its emphasis on understanding how social and cultural norms influence who we are and how we identify in this world. In addition to Narrative Therapy Sammy’s clinical orientation includes Sex Therapy, Psychodynamic, Feminist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Psychotherapy (EFT), Somatic and Mindfulness practices.

Sammy collaboratively engages with individuals and relationships on a variety of sexual concerns that center around her guiding principles that encompass self-autonomy and a ‘no one size fits all’ approach.  The sexual concerns that Sammy supports include discrepancy in desire level and/or sexual interests between partners, orgasm difficulties, sexual pain, sexual dysfunction (erectile disorder and premature ejaculation), performance anxiety, exploring relational orientation, exploring BDSM and kink, unique sexual interests, shame and guilt around sexuality and sexual trauma.  Sammy’s passionate stance allows individuals to explore their sexuality through pleasure focused and sex positive conversations.   Sex therapy, Sammy believes, must extend beyond specific sexual concerns to incorporate all aspects of our lives and identities.

In addition, Sammy has clinical experience in the areas of gender-based violence including sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse, intimate partner violence and masculinity expectations as well as depression, anxiety, PTSD and the effects of trauma, life transitions, post-partum and career issues. Sammy is most excited about working with individuals and relationships on how to navigate relational power dynamics, boundaries, consent and choice, intimacy and pleasure. She invites diversity and equity through a compassionate and humble position in her work.

Sammy is currently under the supervision of Dr. Morag Yule, C. Psych, and available for virtual sessions on Tuesdays from 1pm to 8pm and Wednesday and Thursdays from 9am-5pm. She is available for in-person sessions on Monday from 5-8pm.
